Lil Jon Is Saved After Record Label Goes Bankrupt
The record label TVT Records went bankrupt earlier this year, but a distribution company purchased TVT's assets.
You've probably been wondering... what happened to the King of Crunk? Since you haven't heard anything new from him lately. Well, the record label he signed, TVT Records, went bankrupt earlier this year. Luckily, a digital entertainment company, The Orchard, purchased most of TVT's assets. The deal freed Lil Jon from his TVT obligations and allowed him the rights to the master recordings of his upcoming album "Crunk Rock". That will free Lil Jon to sign onto another label as an artist and The Orchard will digitally issue Lil Jon's back catalog.
"It's about time I get what's owed to me from the situation I was stuck
in. It's unfortunate things have turned out the way they did, but artists
deserve to be compensated fairly by their labels for the work they do" - Lil Jon said in a statement to The Associated Press.
In addition, Lil Jon will work with the Orchard's Brand Entertainment Group to
develop a "lifestyle-oriented marketing and promotion programs", and will help as a consultant for the entertainment company; which distributes and markets millions of songs and videos through multiple companies.
